In 2000, Nicchi was named President of New York Chiropractic College, a position he held for 17 years, until retiring in 2017. He maintains the faculty rank of professor in the department of Chiropractic Clinical Sciences.

Nicchi made significant contributions to the chiropractic profession, including as a seminar and conference lecturer. He has presented papers at the American Back Society and New York City’s Hospital for Joint Diseases Spine Center and conducted two seminars with the late Dr. Janet Travell. He also held leadership positions nationally, including President of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges and a Director of the New York State Chiropractic Association who recognized him with the Ernest G. Napolitano Award, the association's highest honor, in recognition of contributions made to the chiropractic profession in the state of New York.

“Dr. Nicchi exemplifies life-long learning and epitomizes excellence in all he does. I cannot imagine a more deserving individual for this high honor.” said Dr. Michael Mestan, Northeast College president, about the creation of this school of continuing education at the College.
