DESCRIPTION
This module will review spinal anatomy and spinal injuries in children compared to the adult. Age-related factors from infancy to adolescence are associated with the location of injury and type of injuries which present. These are due to physiological and biomechanical differences during growth and development. Understanding the nature of spinal development and the associated structures is paramount to evaluation of injury and management of the pediatric patient. These have direct implications in understanding appropriate modified forces for the different age groups.
