DESCRIPTION
Embedded within the art of Chiropractic, in addition to analysis, diagnosis, technique and treatment, is the art of Doctoring. Central to this uniquely human experience is the doctor-patient relationship. Patient communication is a central element of a good doctor-patient relationship and leads to improved patient outcomes and quality health care. An evidenced based communication technique, “Motivational Interviewing” can be integrated within the consultation thereby transitioning the relationship from paternalistic to collaborative leading to improved patient compliance and assisting the patient in making health behavior choices.
