DESCRIPTION
In 1921 Lewis Terman, Ph.D. begun the oldest and longest running longitudinal study in the field of psychology. This Stanford professor examined the development and characteristics of gifted children into adulthood. The results from the study have been published in five books, and dozens of articles. One such book, The Longevity Project, concluded “…those individuals that did live a long life, had a certain constellation of habits and patterns of living. Their personalities, career trajectories, and social lives proved highly relevant to their long-term health….”
The purpose of this lecture is to understand the findings of this study and how they can be incorporated into clinical practice. Specifically, what lifestyle insights and behavior choices we can share with our patients that will guide them toward a long-life of wellness and wellbeing.
