DESCRIPTION
To explore the biochemical causes of mood modification due to nutritional compounds. Understanding the biochemistry will allow alternative health care practitioners to support their patients and themselves with food, supplements and/or herbs to address the possible dietary deficiencies that can lead to challenges with mood. There is a correlation between diet and mental/emotional health. Eating a healthy and nutritious diet, combined with wellness nutritional support may mitigate the dietary deficiencies that can lead to mood imbalances. Avoiding herb/drug and/or supplement/drug interactions will allow practitioners to safely provide individualized nutritional counseling to support their patients and/or themselves. Additionally, herbs and supplements that are contraindicated for patients who are medicated for mood disorders will be enumerated.
