DESCRIPTION
This population of young females seems to be changing by the moment; accelerated age of puberty, increased societal impacts such as medication usage and unnecessary surgical procedures. Due to these external factors practitioners are seeing many conditions arising within this patient population that in the past would impact older individuals. The age of the patient has become irrelevant to the physiological journey. Educating our families and young women on wellness has never been more important. During this class session a review of the female adolescent patient populations’ most commonly seen conditions along with treatment options and educational strategies will be discussed for easy implementation for Monday morning practice.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the most commonly seen conditions in the female tweens, teens and young adult population with a focus on pain.
2. Summarize the impact of society on this patient population and how to continue to educate our patients and families on wellness of young females.
3. Explore a variety of treatment options which correlate to conditions presenting in this patient population.
4. Discuss patient education strategies for this patient population and how it can have impact on the wellness of these young women.
