DESCRIPTION
This course examines the role of nutrition in optimizing athletic performance, recovery, improved body composition, and overall health for physically active individuals and competitive athletes. Students will explore macronutrient and micronutrient needs, hydration, timing of intake, supplementation, other factors which affect health and performance along with special
considerations for different sports, training phases, and populations. Evidence-based strategies are emphasized whenever possible, drawing from exercise physiology, metabolism, and current sports nutrition research.
