DESCRIPTION
This six-hour seminar will assist the practicing DC in managing risks by discussing the important “Red Flags” that all patients should be screened for before starting treatment; by outlining efficient documentation strategies; by encouraging effective doctor-patient communication, and by discussing appropriate coding, billing and business practices.

At the conclusion of this seminar, the participant should be able to:

• Understand the elements of malpractice and professional misconduct.
• Perform an appropriate informed consent process with patients, and be able to participate in an effective discussion with patients regarding the risks, benefits and alternatives of a proposed treatment plan.
• Understand basics of effective documentation of care.
• Develop an effective strategy in their practice for managing Medicare patients.
• Recognize the challenges of properly coding and documenting some common procedures, and improve their office procedures to face those challenges.
• Formulate strategies to make their written and verbal communications with patients and other healthcare professionals more relevant and effective.
