Women and Men’s health, when viewed through the lenses of the holistic model, is defined as the balance between the physical, mental /cognitive, emotional, and social influences and the individual’s ability to adapt and achieve their maximum potential.
This approach is supported by a growing body of evidence that shows, while a percentage of the morbidity and mortality rates are the result of biological/ genetic/infectious diseases, factors such as health behaviors, beliefs, attitudes, and social conditions all play a significant role. This is referred to as the Social Determinants of Health. (1)
The Doctor of Chiropractic can play a role in contributing to the patients’ health and wellbeing by recognizing the role all factors play in patients’ health and how they are interconnected, assessing their patients thoroughly and applying an evidence-based approach to mitigating their impact.
