DESCRIPTION
A puzzling array of clinical problems can originate from various combinations of hypoadrenia, hypothyroidism, hypogonadism, and low levels of anti-diuretic hormone and human growth hormone. Any or all of these can originate from a concussion that occurred months or years in the past. For this reason, the patient may not associate their current problems with their past injury. This association is often missed by the patient’s other clinicians. Familiarity with post-concussive hypopituitarism can be helpful in assessing, managing and co-managing these patients.
Overview of Course:
The course begins with a review of selected research papers on the clinical presentations of post-concussive hypopituitarism. Proposed mechanisms for this syndrome are discussed, with emphasis on how these mechanisms may relate to chiropractic concerns. Finally, material germane to the management of these patients is introduced.
